    Couldn't really say

    Superb

Peaceful, cosy, comfortable, nice big breakfast. Carefree and relaxing

Rooms very tired, very small village, far from any big commerce/food centres.

    Very good

Excellent staff with a good attitude, cheerful and always willing to help. Betws-y-Coed is a fabulous base for exploring North Wales. The exterior of the hotel (like most buildings in the village) is pleasantly old and grand-looking. Rooms were reasonably comfortable and clean, breakfast was good and the price was reasonable. The location is great, but there are a string of other hotels in the village which I'll consider next time.

The inside of the hotel is a bit shabby and the owners should give it a thorough once-over to maintain their three stars. The pleasant sense of history created by the furnishings, old photos, etc. is spoiled by things like scruffy paintwork, wobbly bedheads, dodgy tv aerial connections, drafty windows, banging cold water taps, etc. The restaurant room was closed in the evenings because it was off-season (March) so we had to eat dinner in the big bar/lounge with its jukebox, pool table, fruit machines etc. By accident, we found a smaller, quiet lounge toward the back which was marked "resident guests only" so we took our drinks there after dinner, but it was freezing and the heater didn't work so we went to bed early. The next night that room had been locked. We felt this hotel has terrific potential, and we enjoyed out stay overall because of the location, price and staff, but I'd need to know it had been spruced up a bit before paying to come back again.

    Superb

Room very comfortable and warm. Generous supply of tea and coffee in room. Room tended to every day. Shower cleaned out and new towels, shampoo and shower gel supplied. Friendly atmosphere in bar - a mixture of locals and guests - with drinks prices not over inflated as is often the case in hotels. Staff very friendly too. Cannot comment on food as I was room only.

I liked how the hotel was positioned in the middle of the town and was ideal for people would enjoy walking/ climbing as not too far from Snowdonia etc.

I did not like the service of the hotel staff they were very short and not welcoming, every time we left the hotel premises we had to leave the key and ask for it again on return. The bed was only nice part of the room however I booked a double room yet had two beds pushed together. The bathroom was a disgrace the seal around bath was coming off and the floor was stained and peeling back. The sheets on the bed were dirty and overall not an enjoyable place to stay, on our arrivial we were informed the heating was not working and therefore a little electric radiator was put in the room, for anybody with children this would of cased a huge Health and Safety risk. I would certainly not stay there again and do not recommend to others.

    Superb

The room, food, service and location was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay at The Gwydyr Hotel.

I found that the hotel was quite cold. Would have had an even better stay if the room and the lounge were a little warmer. Despite this we had a good stay at the hotel.

the hotel is a lovely old building with high ceilings and grand size rooms

in a word cold, not very clean and very noisey,

If you want a roof over your head and a hot bath for a cheap price this will do.

Rooms do not look like what's shown on the website. Far from it. They are very old and tired. Rooms were not very clean although the sheets and towels were. Our room was very cold. Breakfast was basic. Staff were untrained, dressed in hoodies and the hotel was pooly managed.

    Fabulous

I just stayed one night, but the people were nice and polite. This a good deal!

    Fabulous

    Excellent value for money.

Staff could easily be more attentive to customers/residents. Cooked breakfast lacked flavour.

    Good

Staff were performing despite cellar being flooded, but they still sold me a very warm larger they should have said the draft beer was off and offered bottled beer as they did the next night . Food was good both nights

Showers very poor in my room. This may be booking .coms fault but I booked a double non smoking room and a single smoking room. On arrival I was told only one room was booked but it was allright as we were the only ones booked in but all rooms were non smoking and they didn't have a single room

    Good

Pleasant and helpful staff. Plenty of free parking.

Hotel needs updating - get rid of plastic flowers!! Seat guests in front of dining room by windows for breakfast instead of at the back facing walls!!
